Building a Post-Carbon World Symposium: a positive vision for the future

Offering a diversity of opinion and a focus on solutions, the School of the Environment’s Building a Post-Carbon World Symposium, held on April 3, 2019, focused on a positive vision for future. The event began with Ceremonial Leader Wendy Phillips who asked participants to think about their individual impact the planet. After spirited remarks from committed environmentalist Councillor Mike Layton, Prof. Steve Easterbrook, director of the School of the Environment, opened the symposium.

The day-long symposium was spread over five sessions and included 25 speakers who offered unique perspectives on mobilizing to avert the worst effects of climate change. Over 150 participants engaged in round-table discussions and interactive sessions that provided an opportunity to share ideas and stories. Most note-worthy, was the take-away of hope and inspiration.
