About the Seminar
How do we heal self and systems? Melanie will be discussing an Anishinaabe standpoint theory and model called Niigani Miinigowiziiwin that explores the principles of Anishinaabe systems thinking and complexity science to cross a threshold into naa-wi aki (middle ground), a sacred space between worldviews, where the medicine of emergence flows, bringing together the fresh and salt waters with turtle and eel medicine. It's a place and space where telescopes and poetry co-exist in peace.
About the Speaker
Melanie Goodchild is moose clan, Anishinaabe (Ojibway) from Biigtigong Nishnaabeg and Ketegaunseebee First Nations. She is a PhD candidate in Social & Ecological Sustainability at the University of Waterloo. Melanie is a systems thinking and complexity scholar. She lives with her family in Baawaating (the place of the rapids) currently known as Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. Melanie is on faculty with the Academy for Systems Change, the Presencing Institute, the Wolf Willow Institute for Systems Learning, and teaches part time at the University of Vermont.
