Kim St-Cyr (2023), Hons. BSc Major in Environmental Science, Minor in Environmental and Energy & Environmental Ethics, Certificate in Sustainability

Why did you choose to study in the School of the Environment?

I have always had a passion for sustainability and natural systems. I spent a lot of time working with plant-forward food organizations throughout high school which lead me down the path of environmental sustainability. It really made sense for me to pursue studying the environment through my undergrad after that.

What is your favourite memory from your time with the School?

My favorite memory is probably participating in EcoFest, the club event hosted by UTERN on behalf of the Veg Club. EcoFest is a great time for environmental clubs to showcase anything they want, and it is always a fun event.

What have you learned about yourself during your time at U of T?

Throughout my time at U of T I’ve learned that it's important to spend time with yourself, and the relationship you have with yourself. Ensuring that you take time to develop a healthy relationship with yourself makes it so much easier to succeed academically.

Do you have any advice for incoming students?

Find a way to pursue one of your hobbies on campus. U of T has more clubs, sports, and other groups that I didn't know existed until my 4th year. Don't be me.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be pursuing a Master of Science in Sustainability Management at UTM.
